Panchakarma is a staged classical Ayurvedic programme with preparation, selected procedures and recovery. In Ayurvedic terms, it is used to address accumulated ama and dosha imbalance. At Bharadwaj Ayurveda in Althan, Surat, Dr. Jayveersinh J. Mahida (BAMS) examines each patient and decides whether Panchakarma is suitable. It is not sold as a fixed package.

People come to us from Althan, Vesu, Piplod, Bhatar, Adajan, Pal and across Surat for chronic digestion problems, skin conditions, joint pain, stress, hormonal imbalance and a genuine reset. The first step is always the same: a careful consultation and a pulse reading, so the plan fits your body, not a brochure.

How a programme runs

Three stages, never rushed.

Before procedures such as Vamana or Virechana, Dr. Jayveersinh Mahida explains the preparation, procedure-day rest, recovery diet and what to bring. These are doctor-supervised therapies, not home cleanses. See our full pre-treatment preparation guide for what to expect step by step.

PURVA

1 · Preparation (Purvakarma)

Internal and external oleation (snehana), steam (swedana), lighter food and routine changes prepare the body before Vamana or Virechana. Bring current medicines and reports so Dr. Jayveersinh Mahida can check safety before the main procedure.

PRADHANA

2 · Main procedure (Pradhanakarma)

The selected karma (Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya or Raktamokshana) is carried out under Dr. Jayveersinh Mahida's direct supervision. Vamana and Virechana need a quiet procedure day, monitoring, easy access home and no heavy work afterwards.

PASCHAT

3 · Rejuvenation (Paschatkarma)

A graded diet (samsarjana krama), herbal support, rest and follow-up rebuild digestion after the procedure. You receive clear food, sleep and activity instructions instead of being sent home with vague advice.

Panchakarma · Common questions

Before you begin.

How much does Panchakarma cost in Surat?
Panchakarma is not a fixed package. Cost depends on which karmas you actually need, the number of days, and the medicines and oils used. After your first consultation and Nadi Pariksha, Dr. Jayveersinh Mahida gives you a clear, itemised plan and estimate before anything begins.
How many days does Panchakarma take?
The duration depends on which procedures are suitable, the preparation required and your recovery plan. Dr. Jayveersinh Mahida gives you a schedule after the first consultation.
What should I do before Vamana or Virechana?
Do not prepare on your own. Dr. Jayveersinh Mahida decides suitability after consultation, explains the oil, steam, diet and rest needed before the procedure, and tells you what reports, medicines and support to bring. Vamana and Virechana require supervision and rest on the procedure day.
Is Panchakarma the same as a spa massage?
No. Panchakarma is a structured course of classical procedures, diet and rest chosen after consultation. Oil therapies may form one part of that plan.
Can I do Panchakarma while working?
Many therapies are outpatient and can be scheduled around your day. Procedures such as Vamana or Virechana need rest on the procedure day. Dr. Jayveersinh Mahida will plan the schedule around your work and family commitments.
